’Westworld’ og ’Stranger Things’ er de to dramaserier, der er nomineret til flest priser – og samlet er det da også HBO og Netflix, der har flest nomineringer på tværs af alle shows.
Westworld og Saturday Night Live i en delt føring
HBO-serien ’Westworld’ løber med 22 nominationer til tv-verdenens største pris, der bliver udelt i Los Angeles søndag den 17. september. ’Westworld’ står lige med det ugentlige satireprogram ’Saturday Night Live’, der har haft en af deres bedste sæsoner nogensinde med knivskarpe parodier på Donald Trump og ikke mindst hans pressetalsmand Sean Spicer – Alec Baldwin er blevet nomineret for sin Trump, men det kan undre at Melissa McCarthys Spicer ikke er.
Overraskende stærk Stranger Things
Ellers er det i høj grad de nye dramaserier, der dominerer feltet. Netflix’ 80’er-retrogyser ’Stranger Things’ har modtaget 18 nomineringer, blandt andet meget velfortjente tilkendegivelser til den kun 13-år gamle Millie Bobby Brown, der spiller Eleven, David Harbour der spiller politichefen Jim Hopper og ikke mindst Shannon Purser, der spillede stakkels Barb.
Stærkt skuespillerfelt i Westworld
At HBO’s største satsning ’Westworld’ potentielt kan løbe med mange statuetter er mindre overraskende men her er det også velfortjent et bud på Anthony Hopkins som bedste mandlige hovedrolle, Evan Rachel Wood som bedste kvindelige, Jeffrey Wright (Bernard Love) som bedste mandlige birolle og Thandie Newton, der var suveræn som robotten Maeve, som bedste kvindelige. Desværre ingen nominering til Sidse Babett Knudsen – men ret skal være ret: hun gjorde det godt men blev overskygget af bedre skuespillere i vigtigere roller.
Masser af potentielle priser til streaming-tjenesterne
Af andre nye tv-serier blandt topscorerne er der Netflix’ store historiske satsning ’The Crown’ om Elisabeth den 2. af England og streamingtjenesten Hulus dystopiske drama ’The Handmaid’s Tale’ (sendes på HBO Nordic herhjemme). Begge fik 13 nomineringer og The Handmaid’s Tale er ikke overraskende nomineret som bedste drama. Der var også tv-serier, som ikke er fra streamingtjenesterne, blandt topscorerne. NBC’s tåreperser ’This Is Us’ fik 11 nomineringer og FX’s kritikerroste komedie Atlanta fik seks.
De etablerede serier kan også
Der var også en hel del nomineringer til etablerede serier og også her dominerer HBO og Netflix med serier som HBO’s komedie ’Veep’ (17), FX’s Fargo (16), der herhjemme kører på HBO Nordic, AMC’s Better Call Saul (9) – i Europa er det en Netflix Original – og Netflix’ Master of None (8).
Alt i alt rendte HBO med 111 nomineringer efterfulgt af Netflix med 91. Med til regnestykket skal tages, at HBO i USA primært er en kabelkanal, der har været førende på tv-serier længe, hvor Netflix er den rene streamingsopkomling.
Game of Thrones må sidde over
Undrer det dig, at der ikke er faldet en eneste nominering af til yndlingsserien Game of Thrones, så skyldes det teknikaliteter omkring udsendelsesdatoer. Sæson 6 havde premiere, så den var nomineret i sidste års uddeling, og sæson 7 får først premiere i denne måned og kan således først gøre sig gældene i 2018-udgaven af Primetime Emmy Awards, som er showets fulde titel.
Personligt hepper jeg på Better Call Saul, der med sin tredje sæson demonstrerer, at den bare bliver bedre og bedre. Serien er nomineret til bedste drama og både hovedrolleindehaveren Bob Odenkirk og den fremragende Mike Ehrmantraut (spillet af Jonathan Banks) er nominerede (vi anmelder serien i det kommende nummer af iNPUT).
